The Knock Gallery was Sophie's first commission. The site was designed with ease of navigation as a key concern, something which has become particularly important as the gallery's portfolio of work and list of affliated artists has grown.
A black background was chosen to illuminate the colourful selection of paintings and has proved a successful design, requiring little subsequent modification. The paintings are displayed using an image slide show system which the vistor can easily control. The system has a slick, modern look and is extremely easy to use in a wide variety of designs. It is also fully searchable by search engines.
Although the client decided not to have e-commerce, the Knock Gallery website has been and continues to be a source of sales, with over 3,000 page views per month. The site has consistently outperformed visual arts sites of a similar size in terms of unique visitors, page views, bounce rate and average time on site. Attracting visitors from over 40 countries per month, the website is also search engine optimised for a number of searches, including 'Knock Gallery' itself, for which it holds both the no.1 and no. 2 positions on Google.
